A street-by-street look at South Daytona’s neighborhoods — Big Tree, Coventry Forest, Sherwood Forest, Blake and the Halifax riverfront corridor — and how to tell which one

Hunters Ridge is one of the Ormond Beach area’s largest master-planned communities — a sprawling, nature-wrapped collection of neighborhoods that gives buyers a lot of choice at a lot of price points. If you want newer homes, amenities, and trees and preserve all around you, it’s worth a serious look. Here’s an honest local guide for 2026.
Hunters Ridge is a master-planned community of more than 1,300 homes spread across roughly a dozen distinct sub-neighborhoods, set against a large nature preserve of around 2,200 acres. It’s not age-restricted — it’s an all-ages community that mixes established homes with newer construction, which is part of why it appeals to such a broad range of buyers, from first-time owners to move-up families.

Browse Volusia County Homes →Hunters Ridge is built around the outdoors — the big draw is the preserve, with trails and green space throughout, plus community amenities depending on the section. Because it’s a master-planned community made of many sub-neighborhoods, the feel changes from pocket to pocket: some areas are newer with HOA amenities, others are more established. That variety is a feature, but it means the specific sub-neighborhood matters as much as the community name.
Prices span a wide range because the community is so varied — older homes and smaller floor plans sit lower, while newer-construction and larger homes command more. A community-wide average won’t tell you much; the useful comparison is recent sales within the specific Hunters Ridge sub-neighborhood you’re considering. Tell me what you’re after and I’ll send the current listings and recent sales.
It’s a strong fit if you want a nature-focused, master-planned community with a range of home ages and price points, and you like trails and preserve more than a beachfront address. It’s less of a fit if you want to be walking distance to the ocean, you want a 55+ community, or you need a single, uniform neighborhood feel — Hunters Ridge is intentionally varied.
Before writing an offer in Hunters Ridge, confirm two things:
Found a Hunters Ridge home you like? Check the flood zone before you offer.
With a 2,200-acre preserve woven through the community, flood status varies a lot by section. Send me any address and I’ll send back a free report — the FEMA flood zone, whether coverage is required, and the likely annual cost. Usually within 24 hours, no obligation.

What’s the main draw? The large adjacent nature preserve, trails, and the range of homes and price points.
